My name is Steve Angell, many people on the web know me as BowhunterGA. I currently live in North Georgia with my wife and daughter, two cats and one hermit crab who has lived much longer than I would have ever thought possible. I have always loved the outdoors and I developed a passion for archery when I was very young. I remember in my youth building bows and arrows from saplings found in the woods and using everything from heavy cotton thread to electrical wire for strings. At 16 my father bought me my first real bow. A Darton SL-50 compound and as they say, the rest is history. I shot both compounds and recurves for the next several decades, switching to traditional gear only in 2005. About a year ago I decided I wanted to try a longbow and soon found myself wanting to shoot nothing else. I have since sold all of my non-longbow bows while at the same time increased the number of longbows in my arsenal.
Now I find myself shooting daily, something I have not done since I was 16 years old. My love of archery has grown tremendously in the past year and in the past few months has doubled again with my 11 year old daughter now shooting a Hill Style longbow. We attend as many traditional 3D shoots as possible so hopefully we will run into you in person one day soon.
I spend most of my hunting season in the North Georgia mountains pursuing Whitetails but also hunt in middle Georgia and occasionally in other states pursuing deer and hogs. I am a Traditional only hunter and while I still enjoy shooting firearms I really have little desire to hunt with them. I currently contribute to Stick and String magazine and you will find articles there that were penned by me in the near future.
